Winding paper is a material produced from greasy unbleached cellulose and used in the manufacture of electrical insulating products for transformers and other electrical equipment of various voltages.

One of the main indicators for a material is uniform thickness. Its significant difference in the transverse direction leads to a decrease in the density of the product, which complicates the technological operation for winding.

Winding paper manufacturing

Manufacturing of winding paper is carried out using a varnishing machine, where the material is uniformly processed over the surface of one side with a solution of phenol-formaldehyde or cresol-formaldehyde resin. After that, the varnish is exposed to heat, due to which the resin hardens, and volatile substances are removed at this moment.
